Privacy policy

Abigail English Club is a private English course. It runs a Telegram bot (@abbyenglishclub_bot), a Telegram Mini App and a connection for the teacher's own AI assistant. This policy says what we keep, why, who sees it and how to delete it.

What we keep

• Telegram account: your Telegram id, first name, username and app language, as Telegram passes them to the bot.
• Student profile, made by the teacher: a first name (for children no surname), the age group or birth year, the English level, interests and the translation language.
• Learning progress: word reviews, answers to lesson questions and games, XP, streaks, stickers, league points, homework and its feedback, voice messages and photos sent as homework or to the teacher.
• Schedule: lesson times, moves and cancellations; optionally the student's own e-mail, added by the student, used only to invite them to the lesson events in Google Calendar.
• Trial lesson requests: the answers a guest gives in the booking form.
• Payments: only the status of a payment request (sent, paid, confirmed). We never see or keep card or bank details: money goes directly to the teacher.

Why

Only to teach: to send lessons, homework, reminders and reports, to show progress to the student, the parent and the teacher, and to run the schedule. We do not sell data, show ads or build marketing profiles.

Who sees it

• The teacher sees her own students' data.
• A parent linked by the teacher's invitation sees their child's progress and reports.
• Other students see only nicknames (children) or first names and points in the weekly league.
• The teacher's AI assistant (connected by the teacher, e.g. Claude) can read and change course data the teacher could, to help her prepare lessons and reports. It never gets children's contacts or students' e-mails. Messages written by students are passed to it marked as untrusted text.
• In a school, the head teacher (and any teacher above your teacher) sees your teacher's class read-only: students' progress, homework with its photos and voices, the schedule and reports. Payments in a school go to the head of the school. Children's contacts are never shown to anyone, and the school league shows nicknames only.
• Admins who run the service can see course data to support teachers and fix problems; they never see children's contacts or the names of anonymous feedback, and every change they make for a teacher is logged.
• Service providers: Telegram delivers the messages; our server and database are rented hosting; Google Calendar holds the lesson events if the teacher connects it; Google AI Studio draws sticker pictures from a short description that contains no personal data.

Google user data

If the teacher connects her Google account, the app asks for two scopes: calendar.events to create, update and cancel the lesson events in her calendar (with students who added their e-mail as guests), and calendar.freebusy to see when she is busy so that free times for moving a lesson skip them. We read no event contents, contacts, e-mail or files.

Abigail English Club's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google data is used only to show the lesson schedule in the teacher's calendar; it is not shared with anyone else, not used for ads and not used to train AI models. The teacher can disconnect at any time (in the app or through her assistant), and the stored access token is deleted; she can also revoke access in her Google account settings.

Feedback surveys

Every few weeks the bot asks students, parents and teachers for a rating and a few words on what works and what to improve. Answering is optional. You can send an answer anonymously: then nobody sees your name, admins included. The answers are used only to improve the course, and published only as described next.

After a named answer, adult students and parents are asked whether their review may be published on the Abigail English Club website and in its materials. It is published only with a yes, signed with the first name and the role (student or parent) and nothing else; children and teenagers are never asked, and anonymous answers are never published. You can withdraw the permission at any time with the button under it in the bot or by telling the teacher (/privacy reminds you how): we then stop publishing the review and remove it where it is shown.

How long we keep it

• While the student studies with us, or until deletion is requested.
• Trial lesson requests: up to 90 days after they are closed. Photos sent to the assistant: 7 days.
• Notifications in the web cabinet: a copy of each message the bot sent you (which may include a first name, a homework comment or a reply to a report), visible only to you, kept 30 days.
• Database backups: 14 days, then they are deleted.

Deleting your data

In the bot, send /privacy: a student (teen or adult) can delete their own profile, a parent can delete their child's. The deletion happens after 7 days, and can be cancelled until then; then the profile and everything in it are deleted. A student can remove their e-mail at any time in /schedule or in the app. You can also ask the teacher to delete the data.

Children

Children study with their parent's consent, given by the parent's invitation. For children we keep only a first name and the birth year, show only nicknames in the league and never pass their contacts to the assistant.

Security

The connection is encrypted (HTTPS); access to the server and the database is limited to the operator; the Mini App checks Telegram's signature on every request.

Що ми зберігаємо

Дані Telegram (id, ім’я, username, мова); профіль учня, який створює вчитель (ім’я, для дітей — без прізвища, вікова група або рік народження, рівень, інтереси); прогрес (слова, відповіді, ігри, XP, стікери, домашні завдання, голосові й фото); розклад уроків і, за бажанням, власний e-mail учня — лише для запрошень у Google Календар; заявки на пробний урок; лише статус оплати — дані карток ми не бачимо.

Навіщо й хто бачить

Тільки для навчання. Дані бачать учитель, батьки (свою дитину) і ШІ-асистент учителя, який ніколи не отримує контактів дітей і e-mail учнів. Ми не продаємо дані й не показуємо рекламу. Постачальники: Telegram, хостинг сервера, Google Календар (якщо вчитель підключить), Google AI Studio (лише малюнки стікерів, без персональних даних).

Дані Google

Якщо вчитель підключить Google, застосунок створює й оновлює події уроків у її календарі (calendar.events) і бачить лише зайнятий час (calendar.freebusy). Використання даних Google відповідає Google API Services User Data Policy, зокрема вимогам Limited Use: ці дані не передаються іншим, не використовуються для реклами й навчання ШІ. Відключити можна будь-коли.

Школи

Якщо ваш учитель викладає у школі, керівник школи (і всі вчителі над вашим учителем) бачить клас вашого вчителя лише для перегляду: прогрес, домашні завдання з фото й голосовими, розклад і звіти. Оплата в школі йде керівникові школи. Контакти дітей не бачить ніхто, а в лізі школи — лише нікнейми.

Адміністратори й відгуки

Адміністратори сервісу бачать дані курсу, щоб допомагати вчителям і виправляти помилки; контактів дітей та імен анонімних відгуків вони не бачать, а кожна їхня зміна від імені вчителя записується. Раз на кілька тижнів бот просить оцінку й кілька слів про курс — відповідати необов’язково, можна анонімно.

Строки й видалення

Дані зберігаються, поки учень навчається; заявки — до 90 днів, резервні копії — 14 днів, сповіщення в кабінеті на сайті (копія повідомлень бота, яку бачите лише ви; там можуть бути ім’я, коментар до домашки чи відповідь на звіт) — 30 днів. Видалити профіль: команда /privacy у боті (учень — свій, батьки — дитини); видалення через 7 днів, до того можна скасувати. E-mail можна прибрати будь-коли в /schedule або в застосунку.
